What to bring for your China trip
Pack for the season and region. Winters in northern China are dry and cold (well below freezing), while summers in the south are hot and humid. A compact umbrella and comfortable walking shoes are essential year-round, as Chinese cities involve a lot of walking and sightseeing.
Bring a universal power adapter — China uses 220V with type A, C, and I sockets. Carry a small daypack for daily essentials, and note that power banks are fine on flights if within airline limits.
Medicine: bring any prescription medication with its original packaging and a doctor's note, as some medications sold abroad are restricted in China. Over-the-counter basics are widely available in pharmacies, but brand names differ.
